The World's First Drone Scoreboard

Turning Seattle's World Cup Moment Into Global Conversation
CREATIVE
Experiential

CHALLENGE / As Seattle prepared to host six FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, Visit Seattle wanted to create an experience as innovative and unforgettable as the city itself. The challenge was finding a way to celebrate each match that would capture global attention.

INSIGHT / World Cup scoreboards disappear the moment the game ends. But what if the final result could become a shared civic celebration—one that transformed the city's skyline and extended the excitement far beyond the stadium?

SOLUTION / In partnership with Sky Elements and C+C, we created the world's first drone scoreboard. Following each Seattle-hosted World Cup match, hundreds of drones took to the skies above Seattle Center, displaying the final score alongside the competing nations' flags. Because drone shows are typically programmed and approved weeks in advance, real-time content was considered nearly impossible. Working with Sky Elements, we developed a system that left only the score open for editing. Once the final whistle blew, the result was inserted, animation files were updated, and the show launched that very evening.

The activation transformed Seattle's skyline into a celebration of sport, innovation, and civic pride. The first two drone scoreboard shows have already generated millions of earned media impressions and coverage from outlets around the globe.
